Why VMG?

The first thing you’ll notice when you pick up a VMG Blade’s fin is that it is light.
Our fins are about half the weight and reducing any weight on your rig is a good thing.

With 100% carbon in the laminate and our unique outline, carbon is only needed to control the bend and twist of the fin. VMG Blades doesn’t need to add more weight, to counteract the twist produced by their outlines. We also have some specially formulated ingredients to keep everything nice and light.

Our outlines are unique, allowing complete control of variables like bend and twist, giving you complete control while sailing.

Our outline was designed especially for sailing control and ability to fully customise without the guess work. An outline with almost neutral twist gives the ability to control twist characteristics without having to combat or trade-off against the geometric twist built into other outlines such as swept-back designs. Where if you change one property of the fin and then need to compensate or neutralise other properties, well that introduces guess work.

We don’t believe in copy-cats. We take our designs and ideas from the drawing board, not from a competitor’s fin.

So we use the best designers, like Boogie, to bounce around ideas and create new fins. It takes years of learning and understanding topics like hydro-dynamics, aero-dynamics, engineering and carbon composites.

We are constantly investing our time and energy into true Research & Development. At least it means we get lots of time on the water testing prototypes and next season’s equipment!
